The New York Times reported on Tuesday evening that a memo written by then FBI Director James Comey said President Donald Trump asked for the FBI to end an ongoing investigation into former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.

"He is a good guy", Trump told Comey, according to the memo.

March 20, 2017: Comey testifies to Congress that the FBI has been investigating possible links between Trump associates and Russian officials since July, the same month he held an unusual news conference to discuss the investigation into Clinton.

McCain says Trump needs to "get it all out. and the longer you delay, the longer it's going to last".

In testimony to the Senate last week, the acting F.B.I. director, Andrew G. McCabe, said, "There has been no effort to impede our investigation to date".

Firing FBI Director James Comey is already coming back to haunt President Donald Trump.

Overlay that with Trump's repeated insistence that any investigations into Russian Federation were suspect, and it certainly seems believable that he might have tried to twist Comey's arm on the investigation into Flynn. When the meeting ended, Mr. Trump told those present - including Mr. Pence and Attorney General Jeff Sessions - to leave the room except for Mr. Comey.

He told Comey that Flynn, who was sacked for lying to Pence about the content of his telephone conversations with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak before the inauguration, hadn't done anything wrong.

Representative Elijah Cummings, the ranking Democrat on the House of Representatives Oversight and Government Reform Committee, said Trump's disclosure only reinforced Democrats' call for an independent investigation.

More killed, hundreds injured in Venezuela protests
More than three-dozen people have been killed, hundreds injured and as many as 2,000 detained in almost seven weeks of protests . Authorities were also investigating a shooting in Carabobo that left two officers injured, one critically.

Testifying before Congress is familiar to Comey, a former Justice Department official in the George W. Bush administration. It is unclear whether Mr. Comey told the Justice Department about the conversation or his memos. The letter is expected Tuesday night.

Schumer however on Tuesday said the country is being tested "in unprecedented ways". This will surely bring about allegations that the Trump White House engaged in obstructing of justice, an impeachable offense.

Flynn resigned as Trump's national security adviser in February, less than a month into the job, after media reports showed that he discussed USA sanctions with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak after the 2016 election, then misled Vice President Mike Pence about the nature of those discussions.

Mr. Comey wrote the memo detailing his conversation with the president immediately after the meeting, which took place the day after Mr. Flynn resigned, according to two people who read the memo.

Trump made the remarks to reporters in the Oval Office with former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger after a closed meeting with Russia's foreign minister.

January 22, 2017: Two days after taking office, Trump appears to single out Comey at a White House reception to thank law enforcement officers and others that helped during the inauguration.

The news of the Comey memo comes less than a week after Trump fired Comey seemingly without warning.

Flynn was sacked after misleading top White House officials about his contacts with Russian Federation.

In an ominous sign for Trump, Rep. Jason Chaffetz, chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, sent a letter from the Federal Bureau of Investigation asking for the handover of "all memoranda, notes, summaries and recordings referring or relating to any communications between Comey and the President".
