The meeting at the White House took place just one day after the president fired FBI Director James Comey who was leading the investigation into whether Trump campaign associates were coordinating with the Russians during the election.
Soon after the report was published, the administration contended that it was false and that Trump did not reveal sources of intelligence, methods of gathering intelligence or military operations.
The White House declared the allegations, first reported by the Washington Post, incorrect.
He added: "The president and the foreign minister reviewed common threats from terrorist organisations to include threats to aviation".
In a shock twist, the information reportedly came from a U.S. ally who had not authorized Washington to share it with Moscow, a potential blow to intelligence relationships based on trust that secrets will be kept.
Thus, a confirmed, official taping of Trump's now-controversial meeting with the Russian ambassador and foreign minister does not exist. "Officials anxious that this information could lead to the discovery of the methods and sources involved, but it didn't say Trump discussed them".

It's unlikely that Trump has broken any law. By doing so, Mr Trump would have jeopardised co-operation from an ally familiar with the inner workings of IS, and make other allies - or even U.S. intelligence officials - wary about sharing top secret details with the president.
The information shared with the Russian foreign minister and ambassador had been provided to Trump by an influential United States partner.
While the President has the authority to disclose even the most highly classified information, in this instance he did so without asking the ally that provided it, which threatens to jeopardise a long-standing intelligence-sharing agreement, the USA officials said.

Further, they have also warned organizations, businesses and other sectors to take required precautions and update their systems. If you're still using Windows XP, you're out of luck, but the March and April update bundles are available for Windows Vista.
After Mr Trump reportedly disclosed the information in a manner described as spontaneous, officials immediately called the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the National Security Agency (NSA), both of which have agreements with a number of allied intelligence services around the world, and informed them what had happened.
Congressional Republicans and Democrats expressed concern about the report.
"I think we could do with a little less drama from the White House on a lot of things so that we can focus on our agenda", he told Bloomberg Business.
"Never before have I witnessed a senior government official so carelessly threaten an intelligence-sharing relationship", a former senior intelligence official told CNN.
The Washington Post reported on Monday that the revelation put a source of intelligence on the Islamic State at risk. He added that he wants the House intelligence committee fully briefed on what, if anything, was shared with the Russian officials.
Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.), the ranking member on the Senate Intelligence Committee, called it a "slap in the face to the Intel community".
In his first statements since reports that he leaked highly classified information to the Russians, President Donald Trump did not deny those reports.
"If the report is true, it is very disturbing". Ryan's office said he hoped for a full explanation, while McConnell told Bloomberg TV on Tuesday he wished for a little less drama from the White House.
Secretary of State Rex Tillerson disputed the report.
