Flynn was asked to resign in early February after it became clear Flynn misled senior members of Trump's administration about his communications with Russian government officials.
Flynn later joined the Trump campaign but was sacked as the White House national security adviser by President Donald Trump in February after he failed to tell the truth about his contacts with the Russian ambassador to the United States.
She added: "To state the obvious, you don't want your national security adviser compromised with the Russians".
Yesterday during a hearing on Capitol Hill, former Acting Attorney General Sally Yates also revealed that Flynn was vulnerable to foreign blackmail. But she said she didn't know if the White House took steps to restrict Flynn's access to sensitive or classified information. She said she was not.
Trump tweeted Monday that Flynn was "given the highest security clearance by the Obama Administration - but the Fake News seldom likes talking about that".
Yates first met with McGahn on January 26, relaying to him the basic facts of what she knew.
In the interview Tuesday, Graham said Trump was "very loyal" to Flynn and that the White House staff may have had to convince the President to dump him.
Trump urges future gov't shutdown, easier passage of laws
He says it's "a really good down payment" on rebuilding the military and "the biggest increase in border security in a decade". The White House has said Trump would sign the measure, which is the first major legislation to pass in Trump's presidency.
Ms Yates, who was sacked on Jan 30 after defying Mr Trump over his contested travel ban, did not say what Mr Flynn discussed with Ambassador Sergey Kislyak in a number of phone calls last December, which were secretly monitored by U.S. intelligence. The White House Counsel informed the President immediately.
Senator John Cornyn, the No. 2 Republican in the Senate, questioned Yates heatedly about her objections to Trump's travel ban. Trump has taken pains to diminish the investigations in the minds of citizens, often by insulting USA intelligence officials and lawmakers on social media and in public.
Obama warned Trump, then president-elect, not to give the post of national security adviser in his administration to Flynn, a former Obama aide said.
Referring to Yates, a 27-year veteran DOJ prosecutor, as "an Obama appointee", Spicer said, "You have someone who you have to wonder why they are telling you something, to the point where they had to come back a second time because what they were saying was unclear". Flynn served under Obama as defense intelligence chief but was later dismissed.
This double corroboration that Trump knew about Flynn is a huge part of holding Trump directly responsible for his decision to hire and keep Flynn, and it's also damning in terms of the entire Russian collusion narrative (not yet proven, only being investigated) swirling around Trump's entire campaign and top level advisers. He's dismissed FBI and congressional investigations into his campaign's possible ties to the election meddling as a "hoax" driven by Democrats bitter over losing the White House.
Donald Trump has hit back angrily over new claims about his former national security adviser Michael Flynn, who resigned amid controversy over his links with Russian Federation. The revelation came after interviews with a host of former USA officials, most of whom spoke on the condition of anonymity in order to discuss sensitive national security information. He says he has no ties to Russian Federation, but the investigations are expected to last into next year. James Clapper, director of national intelligence under President Barack Obama, testified as well.
