Morning links: Blues need Game 2 repeat or better

Russian Vladimir Tarasenko scored twice, which saw the tiebreaking goal with 3:51 remaining in the third period, to help the St. Louis Blues for a 3-2 win against the Nashville Predators in Game 2 at Scottrade Center on Friday.

The Predators lead the best of seven series 2-1 with Game Four Tuesday night at 8:30 in Smashville.

Defenseman Ryan Ellis has starred for Nashville, leading the predators in the postseason with eight points, but it's been the depth that has really shown through for Nashville as the Predators have had 13 different players score in seven playoff games.

James Neal made sure it didn't matter, scoring the game-winning goal with 6:57 left, as the Predators beat the Blues 2-1 on Tuesday night to take a 3-1 lead in their Western Conference semifinal. A goal by National Hockey League veteran Vernon Fiddler, 36, ended up sealing the game for good for the Predators, but St. Louis had so much momentum inside the Scottrade Center during game two on April 28 that this has become a serious contest. By the 12:00 mark of the first period, it was already a three-goal lead with Jakob Silfverberg and captain Ryan Getzlaf tallying.

Defensemen Ryan Ellis and Roman Josi also scored, and Colton Sissons added two assists.

The thing the Blues have going for them is the knowledge that they have been in every game down the wire. Sure, Jake Allen was the reason the Preds could not comeback in game two, but Nashville has gotten traffic in front of him and as the old saying goes... you can't stop what you can't see. I can only imagine, given the various ways this team can play, that it must be a nightmare to develop a game plan for Nashville's opponents.

Tyson Fury Open Letter Addressing The Turmoil In His Life
Joshua said before the bout that it was just two men in the ring, and nothing more than that. He took a loss against Tyson Fury . "I thought he would not get up", Klitschko said.

"If we get a chance as a D corps, there are a lot of guys who can skate and we try to join the rush and make something happen", Josi said. The only shot that got past Nashville goaltender Pekka Rinne was an artful deflection by Alexander Steen in the second period. They paid dearly in Game 1 when they gave up a pair of power-play goals in a 4-3 loss.

Jakob Silfverberg #33 and Josh Manson #42 of the Anaheim Ducks celebrate Silfverberg's goal against the Edmonton Oilers.

It wasn't necessarily that the Capitals played poorly (that plus-20 shots on goal advantage was not a fluke), but coach Barry Trotz seemed to think his top players had an even higher level they needed to get to and were unable to do it. They dismantled the Chicago Blackhawks in the opening round, and have taken the game to the Blues when it has mattered most. They can not expect Vladimir Tarasenko and the top two lines to carry the offense. The Blues went with an empty net with more than three minutes to go because of the Predators' piling on. "What he's done in the playoffs speaks for itself", St. Louis coach Mike Yeo said of the Russian standout. The over/under total for the game is listed at 5 goals.

The defenseman scored Sunday when he swatted a loose puck toward - and ultimately into - the net.

Rakell got a long pass from Getzlaf behind the Edmonton defense and scored on a breakaway 25 seconds in for the fastest playoff goal to start a game in franchise history.
