Trump speaks with Egyptian president on church bombings

On Sunday, twin suicide bombing at two churches in Delta province of Gharbiya and Alexandria province in northern Egypt killed at least 45 and wounded over 120.

IS claimed two Egyptian suicide bombers carried out both attacks and threatened further attacks in a statement published on social media.

The bishop said the representative of Egypt security he met advised the state and the people cooperate to improve protection at churches.

"Given the current circumstances and our solidarity with the families of the dead, we are going to limit our celebrations to Easter Mass", the Church said.

In the neighbouring city of Minya, home to the highest Coptic Christian population in the country, the Coptic Orthodox Diocese said celebrations would be limited to liturgical prayers "without any festive manifestations", in mourning for Sunday's victims.

"The powers that the security agencies have already don't need reinforcement by the state of emergency", Abdel-Aziz said.

Highlighting the many messages of sympathy he had received from around the world since yesterday's attacks, he said: "Prayer is the most important thing we can ask for at this time".

"Christians are - whether Coptic Christians or Catholics or any other Christian - a target these days for terrorists", Joseph Ghabour, the deacon of public relations at the Coptic Orthodox Church of St. Mark in New Jersey, told Baptist Press.

It added that security forces killed seven suspected militants in a shootout on Monday as they met to plan attacks on minority Christians.

However, the ministry did not mention if this group belongs to the Islamic State (IS) group which claimed responsibility on Sunday for the bombings of two churches.
