N'Golo Kante reveals his own PFA Player of the Year vote

Conte was happy and "proud" for Kante's best player award but he admitted that he has yet to find his voice as he comes to the end of his second year in English football.

"It means the world to be chosen and it's been two handsome seasons, one with Leicester, and we are in good form with Chelsea".

He becomes the fourth player to be named Young Player of the Year in successive years, after Ryan Giggs, Robbie Fowler and Wayne Rooney.

Kante, who also faces an FA Cup final date against Arsenal, said Chelsea manager Antonio Conte, like Leicester's title-winning manager Claudio Ranieri an Italian, had instilled a winning mentality into the players.

"I thought he was a number six like former Chelsea player Claude Makelele".

All this is true, and yet there is no harm in occasionally celebrating other qualities which are needed to win matches, the qualities Kante embodies, the selfless hard work which gives others the platform to shine.

"It's the biggest honour to get this award", Kante said. It's evident just how important his presence is, as without him, defending champs Leicester have battled to stay out of the relegation zone for much of the year, while Chelsea went from 10th to top of the league.

Why Liverpool didn't at least test the waters for N'golo Kante is anyone's guess.

"The best players in the world don't exist without a team".
