Former 'Bachelor' Chris Soules Arrested After Deadly Car Crash

Bachelor alum Chris Soules was arrested and charged early Tuesday (Apr. 25) morning after allegedly leaving the scene of a deadly auto crash.

Both vehicles went into ditches on opposite sides of the road, according to an Iowa State Patrol report obtained by the Register. Mosher was taken after the crash by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Oelwein, where he was pronounced dead.

The Iowa State Sate Patrol alleges that Soules fled the scene.

According to court documents, the general probable cause for Soules' charge - a Class D felony punishable by up to five years in prison - included possession of alcoholic beverages/containers, admissions/statements, property damage, and being identified by witnesses.

Chris' rep has released a statement, telling "Extra" on Tuesday, "Chris Soules was involved in an accident Monday evening (April 24) in a rural part of Iowa near his home".

A judge set a $10,000, cash-only bond for Soules.

Soules was arrested by the Buchanan County Sheriff's Office after reportedly fleeing the scene.

Sgt. Bright says after Soules was taken into custody he was transported to a local hospital to be treated for injuries before being booked into the Buchanan County Jail. Court records show Soules was convicted of operating a vehicle while intoxicated in 2006.

According to the Buchanan County Sheriff's Office, Soules was located shortly after at his home near Arlington. According to the online gossip outlet, the incident happened Monday night, and Soules is now in custody.

Soules appeared on the 10th season of ABC's "The Bachelorette" in 2014 and was selected in early 2015 for the 19th season of "The Bachelor". Unfortunately for those fans, his fiancé, Whitney Bischoff, broke off the engagement that same year and it looks like Soules has fallen into series of bad choices.

A lawyer for Soules said his client was "devastated" after learning the victim died and his "thoughts and prayers" are with his family.

Soules' attorneys addressed the crash in a statement sent to NBC News.
