The centre-back has won the Premier League four times as well as finally delivering a Champions League trophy to Chelsea in 2012.

Former Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has hailed John Terry as the Premier League's greatest ever defender after the club announced their captain will leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.

Chelsea and Terry jointly announced the player's end-of-season departure on Monday.

Terry and Lampard both played a big part in much of Chelsea's greatest period of success since Roman Abramovich bought the club in June 2003. Terry is synonymous with Chelsea's rise to English and continental dominance as well providing that bit of assholery that every successful club needs. No one has won more than his 14 major honours with the club.

Although a managerial career appears to be beckoning, Terry does not feel ready to hang up his boots.

"The club and I have always had a fantastic relationship, which will continue beyond my playing days", he added.

"Then I realised who you were from your first speech right before our first friendly game against Celtic". The news was expected, but it still hit hard and I'm guessing we won't be able to truly process its meaning for some time.

"I thought you were a young player from the academy going on pre-season tour".

Koeman ready to fight to keep Lukaku at Everton
Everton manager Ronald Koeman has rather unsubtly questioned why Romelu Lukaku would want to join Manchester United. West Ham, meanwhile, stay 13th and move on to 38 points as they edge closer to making mathematically sure of safety.

"He has been an outstanding player, inspirational captain and has always demonstrated an exceptional commitment to the cause".

"This squad needs him", Conte said at the time.

"There will be opportunities for me to speak further about this over the coming weeks".

"The news of Terry leaving is incredibly odd timing, I don't get it at all", Neville told MNF.

John Terry has paid his tribute to Chelsea fans and owner Roman Abrahamovich in an emotional post on his instagram page.

With Terry reduced to the role of a cheerleader on the bench, Chelsea have climbed to the top of the Premier League.

As you can see, Terry makes it abundantly clear that he's not planning to retire anytime soon, and still feels he has regular football in him.
