The EU will abolish mobile phone roaming charges from June 15 following a vote in the European Parliament on April 6.
The EU legislature had its final vote on how much operators may charge each other for using their networks to provide roaming services, which should cut costs substantially.
One of the most inconvenient things about heading on holiday has to be the roaming charges, so we're happy to say that they will soon be a thing of the past.
"This is a big victory for European consumers", said Finnish MEP Miapetra Kumpula-Natri. We can now celebrate the fact that from 15 June on there will be no more roaming fees.
EU digital affairs commissioner Andrus Ansip said it would have an "immediate positive impact on the life of millions of Europeans".

Mobile operators will be limited to charging their foreign counterparts 3.2 cents per voice call, 1 cent per SMS and €7.7 per GB of data - the cost of which will fall incrementally each year until it reaches €2.5GB in 2022.
The ruling will apply to the United Kingdom as well as to the other 27 countries in the European Union: the United Kingdom has given formal notice of its intention to leave, but will remain a member until approximately March 2019.
Other studies suggest fear of bill shock means many travellers turn roaming off and use Wi-Fi or even switch their phone off entirely when overseas, meaning no revenue is generated for operators. This could also open up markets for small and virtual telecoms operators.
The rules do not apply to customers of operators from outside the EU, including non-member European countries such as Norway, Switzerland and Turkey.
