Hernandez's former agent, Brian Murphy, said on Twitter that he did not believe the athlete had killed himself.
Eldridge has submitted a bill calling for the state to form a special commission to study why so many inmates commit suicide, with the aim of developing ways to reduce the number of deaths.
Hernandez was convicted in 2015 of murdering Lloyd and sentenced to life in prison.
"For all intent and practical purposes, Aaron Hernandez will die an innocent man, but the court of public opinion may think differently", said Healy.
