Bissonette went on to say: "There are over 80,000 students receiving their education in these 110 (rural) schools where teachers, on average, are earning 21 percent below the cost of living in their communities, and there are over 5,200 teachers teaching these 80,000 students".
The issue in question was a provision of Senate Bill 26 that was added by the House.
The bill is now in a conference committee, where lawmakers from the House and Senate are trying to work out their differences and reach a compromise before sending the final version of the bill to Governor Holcomb.
A similar bill, House Bill 469, was introduced in the Florida House of Representatives and was moved forward by the Civil Justice and Claims Subcommittee in an 11-4 vote.
The House Health and Human Services Committee is expected to vote this morning on SB 7, a bill to tighten up on food stamp eligibility in New Hampshire, and will hold hearings on SB 242, another attempt by Manchester State Sen. A bill scheduled to be heard in a state senate committee would decriminalize pot in the rest of the state.
The state Chamber of Commerce also released a statement, asking for the Senate to pass the bill.

According to the 2017 Kids Count in Indiana Data Book, Indiana ranked third out of 37 states in the percentage of high school students who seriously considered attempting suicide in 2015. State Sen. Rob Bradley, R-Fleming Island, feared that the bills were unconstitutional because the state constitution lays out the criteria for restoring voting rights.
