Facebook murder suspect found after going through McDonald's drive-thru

The man who police say shot a Cleveland retiree at random and posted video of the killing on Facebook was recognized by the drive-thru attendant of a McDonald's restaurant outside Erie, Pennsylvania, on Tuesday morning.

"I looked out and I'm like, 'It sure does look a lot like him, '" DuCharme remembered. "Some even said he should have killed me".

Luckily, Lane has also received plenty of support from family and friends - and even the victim's family members!

"They don't make men like him anymore", Debbie Godwin said.

Lane said her and Stephens were romantically involved for a while and had discussed getting married.

Lane said it has been hard watching her name dominate social media, where her connection to the killer became a topic of discussion over the weekend.

Lane said the last time she talked to Stephens was Saturday night and he told her he had quit his job and was moving out of state.

After the fatal shooting of the self-taught mechanic and grandfather of 14, authorities nationwide scrambled for two days to find Stephens. Authorities say Stephens shot and killed himself during the pursuit.

The order came through the McDonald's drive-thru window in Harborcreek Township, Pennsylvania: Chicken McNuggets and a side of fries.

According to CBC News, while Cleveland's mayor, Frank Jackson, spoke to the media about closure in the case, the city's police chief, Calvin Williams stated, "we would have preferred it had not ended this way", saying there were still many unanswered questions.

Before murdering Godwin, Stephens had written on his Facebook page that he wanted to kill someone out of rage toward his ex-girlfriend.

In a blog post, Vice President of Global Operations Justin Osofsky wrote: "we know we need to do better".
