Sergio Garcia celebrates his Masters win with a very good morning-after tweet

Garcia told Golf Digest recently that having Marty on Team Sergio has been a big help.

Good morning! Sergio Garcia won his first major in thrilling fashion, beating Justin Rose in an epic duel over the final five holes of the Masters.

Losing hurt, and it reached a point where Garcia acted as though he no longer cared.

"We were cheering each other", Garcia said. "I knew there was the possibility of making a birdie in the playoff". "I felt positive. I felt confident", said Rose. He and Seve were my idols since I was very little. I really stepped up.

"Justin unfortunately didn't play the play-off hole that he would have liked and they both had chances to win it in regulation, but there's certainly nothing for Rose to hang his head about".

All that mattered was Garcia and Rose, who delivered a final hour as compelling as any at the Masters and a champion who began to wonder if he would ever win a major.

That gave the 37-year-old Spaniard two putts from 12 feet for the victory, and his putt swirled into the cup for a birdie.

Both players shot 3-under 69s on Sunday before heading into the playoff.

"I don't know if it hasn't sunk in or something but it doesn't feel that different".

"To do it on his (Seve's) 60th birthday and to join him and Olazabal, my two idols in golf my whole life, it's something awesome".

"Jose sent me a text on Wednesday telling me how much he believed in me and what I needed to do, believe in myself, be calm and not let things get to me as I had in the past".

Red Sox Vs. Rays Lineup: Pablo Sandoval Rests For Patriots' Day Matinee
The inexpicable error cost the Rays extensively, as the Red Sox went on to score three runs that inning, and take a 4-2 lead. Moreland, signed as a free agent to a $5.5 million, one-year deal, has gone 16 for 33 after opening hitless in 12 at-bats.

The momentum had shifted and Garcia took full advantage, curling in a six-foot birdie putt at the 14th although Rose parred to stay one ahead. The day also had an ace from Matt Kuchar, who ended fourth, one place behind 2011 victor, Charl Schwartzel. Kuchar had a hole-in-one on the 16th hole. England's Paul Casey (68) ended up a solo sixth at 284, and Kevin Chappell (68) and Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy (69) tied for seventh at 285.

"I hit it where I wanted to", he said. He has had his fair share of heartbreak. Rose walked off the 11th green with a two-shot lead.

"It was a great battle with Sergio all day", Rose said.

Personally, I have never been one to shy away from my dislike of Garcia. He was forced to take a drop and assume a penalty stroke but pitched onto the three with his fourth shot and made the putt for par. "This is a tournament I think I will win one day".

Garcia opened the back nine with two bogeys and trailed by two at the par-5 13th, where his drive landed under a bush.

It's been almost two decades of no major wins, until Garcia rallied late to make up a two-shot deficit with six holes left Sunday.

Before meeting the American former college golfer, Garcia publicly doubted he would ever win a major. "We've always had a good friendship and a good camaraderie and good rivalry".

But the Spanish symmetry did not end there: The last golfer to eagle 15 and then win the Masters?

"The Masters is like the Champions League, but the British Open is like the Champions' Champions League".

The idea of being the 2017 Masters champion hasn't quite sunk in yet.
