According to the Miami Herald, Jeter is teaming up with former Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush in an effort to buy the Miami Marlins.

The Associated Press is citing a person familiar with the partnership.

Last week, Marlins president David Samson said talks with multiple parties interested in buying the team were in the "fourth inning".

Spurs swept Watford aside at White Hart Lane this afternoon, courtesy of a 4-0 scoreline, to maintain their unbeaten home record. An attack which has missed Kane for the better part of a month continues to score and win games when needed.

Jeter spent his entire 20-year career with the New York Yankees. And Bush comes from a baseball-loving family; his brother George owned the Texas Rangers before becoming president. That would be a premium to Forbes' $940 million valuation of the team and an eightfold return for owner Jeffrey Loria, who bought the Major League Baseball team in 2002 for $158 million. Jeter retired from the Yankees in 2014 and has a house on Tampa's Davis Islands.

Bush and Jeter, who were previously in the market for the National League club, have strong competition from NY financier and Quogue Capital manager Wayne Rothbaum. His final manager, Joe Girardi, recently predicted Jeter would make a great owner - even if it's in a city other than NY. "In my mind he'll always be a Yankee", Girardi said.

The need for a large cash portion for the bid was the motivating factor for Bush and Jeter to join forces; despite their substantial net worth, they would have needed partners to finance the transaction, and financing from outside sources that the league might find problematic.
