Liverpool scored just before halftime and held off West Brom for a narrow away victory. But it was excitement until the end - pretty much always whenever we are involved'.

West Brom manager Tony Pulis also singled out his goalkeeper Ben Foster, who raced forwards for two corners during the late push for an equaliser, nearly conceding on the counter-attack to Liverpool substitute Alberto Moreno.

Only the top four English clubs are guaranteed a place in next season's Champions League and Liverpool are now six points ahead of fifth-placed Manchester United, although their bitter northwest rivals do have two games in hand. This victory and the one at Stoke last week won't linger long in the memory, but could well be looked back on as highly crucial ones in their bid to play Champions League football next season.

"I'm not sure that he knew that he couldn't, because it would have been offside, but maybe there wasn't that option, which I didn't really know".

"Somebody asked me which result would have kept me a little bit calmer in the last few minutes and I said only 4-0 after 86 minutes!"

"We are very happy, three points today, so 66, that's a wonderful number for the next six or seven days. That's my job. I'm pleased with that but like I say, everybody did their jobs today and that's the important thing when you play away from home - you have to grind out results sometimes", concluded the Belgian keeper. Next week we try at Anfield to get 69, and let's carry on.

The Celtics coach added that Thomas plans to return to the team on time for Game 3 in Chicago on Friday night. Thomas attended the team's film session and short walk-through Monday, but did not speak with the media.

"So, I am very happy with the performance".

"I had no idea it has been that long since Liverpool have won [against a Tony Pulis side], but I can imagine it's a hard place".

Klopp on how Tony Pulis has been able to frustrate Liverpool: "I can understand why".

Defeat saw Albion fail to score for the fourth straight game and Darren Fletcher admitted they need to be more clinical.

Though Moreno's miss did not prove costly, he and his teammates were indebted to their own goalkeeper, Simon Mignolet, who denied Matt Philips right at the death with a fine save from point blank range.

But, having already racked up some terse tussles with Albion boss Tony Pulis during his time in the Premier League, Klopp found it impossible to relax.
