He took to Twitter recently to tease the upcoming device. "Essential Products Inc" has reportedly raised significant funding and plans to focus on creating tablets, high-end smartphones and mobile software. Judging from the Adreno 540 GPU, the octa-core 2.2GHz CPU in question is likely the Snapdragon 835. The screen resolution of the handset is listed as 1312x2560 pixels. On the imaging front, the device is set to come with a 12MP rear camera and an 8MP selfie camera on the front.

A fresh benchmark that has appeared on GFXBench gives us some insight into what we can expect to see in Andy Rubin's upcoming bezel-less smartphone powered by Android and under his newly formed company, Essential. In the benchmark, we find the name "Essential FIH-PM1" which gives us confirmation this is, indeed, the upcoming Essential. Since leaving Google, Andy has turned his hand to a few different things but his most recent venture is the most interesting to us, starting his own phone hardware company, and yes the Essential will be running Android. The device would be backed by 4GB of RAM and oddly, the listing says that it will come loaded with a 16GB of internal storage. The listing clearly shows the absence of autofocus feature for the rear camera. The smartphone runs on latest Android 7.0 Nougat, however, there is no mention of the battery capacity.

The phone might come with some modular capabilities as well. The reports regarding this smartphone claim that it might feature a port that will let you attach mods for enhanced usage of the smartphone. There might be a new technology in the display same as the Apple's 3D Touch, but these are just speculations, and nothing is confirmed as of now. The phone is apparently dubbed as "Essential" and has now surfaced on the GFX Benchmark tests. With the phone frequently making to benchmark sites, it's pretty evident that the phone is nearing its launch.
