Pochettino: 'Kane is Tottenham's Messi'

Harry Kane will return from injury in Saturday's Premier League match against Watford, but Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has not decided whether the striker will start.

The win, which moves Spurs four points behind Chelsea - for a few hours at least - is their 11th in a row at home in the Premier League and sixth on the spin in the league.

And Tottenham's Argentinian boss believes Kane is now as integral a part of the starting XI at White Hart Lane as the talismanic Messi at the Nou Camp.

Obviously it's good to have Harry back - I'd like to say that - but Sonny's done well and Vincent [Janssen] too, when he's come in.

"I think today is a very good example here of trying to change that mentality", Pochettino continued. "But there's no doubt Harry's one of the best players that we have", he added.

When asked if Chelsea could be caught, Pochettino said: "We need to see ourselves and watch ourselves. But there's a really good feel about the club at the moment".

"I think that is a thing that we are working on a lot from day one, and maybe today we are seeing the time and work start to reward us". And he's our main striker. "His character is unbelievable".

It means 21-year-old Pau Lopez, on loan from Espanyol, is in line for a debut and Pochettino said he was "ready to compete".

With Kane back in the fold, Spurs have another attacking option available to them, and with the form the side is now in, they should be pressing Chelsea all the way to the end of the league campaign.

Spurs fans were quick to point out the apparent gaffe.

Kieran Trippier's wonderful cross only needed just a soft touch from the Dutchman to give Spurs the lead in their Premier League clash against Watford.

He said every player must feel important and part of the project, otherwise it's hard to win titles.
