Former Spanish global David Villa has scored a remarkable goal from near midfield during New York City's 2-0 Major League Soccer win over the Philadelphia Union on Friday (Saturday NZT).

The former Spain and Barcelona forward struck from just inside the attacking half in a 2-0 victory over Philadelphia Union in Pennsylvania.

Villa was named the MLS MVP last season and now with four goals and three assists in six games, he is picking up right where he left off past year.

Trump signs law allowing states to defund Planned Parenthood
Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion provider in the US , performing at least 300,000 abortions every year. Last month 74 tech leaders signed a letter to Congress supporting the organization.

The reigning MLS MVP lobbed his flawless shot over the head of Union goalkeeper Andre Blake from just outside of the midfield circle on the Union's side of the pitch.

While Villa was his typical soft-spoken self when recounting the incredible goal he scored minutes earlier, Patrick Vieira and Andrea Pirlo - who, like Villa, have won a World Cup and played for some of the world's elite clubs - gushed about the effort. On Friday, he helped his side beat the Philadelphia Union with one of the best goals of his career. This wasn't his best long-range goal ever.

Blake saved Philadelphia going down two goals twice within seconds in the 67th minute as he blocked an easy one-on-one chance for NYCFC before Wallace scuffed the rebound.
