Charlie Murphy, Eddie Murphy's older brother and a staple on Chappelle's Show, has died, ET can confirm.
Charlie Murphy's manager told TMZ that the comedian died Wednesday at a NY hospital. He has reportedly been undergoing chemotherapy treatment in recent months to fight the illness. Chapelle's Show made Charlie famous as his stories about Rick James and Prince became some of the show's most beloved sketches.
Charlie's wife Tisha Taylor Murphy died in 2009 after her own battle with cancer. He also starred in several projects, including Are We There Yet?
Murphy is also remembered for his fantastic tale about the legendary musician, Prince, which was made into a skit for Chappelle Show.
Murphy was born in Brooklyn in 1959 (he's just a year older than Eddie), and served in the Navy for six years before entering Hollywood.
