ICE began publishing the report following a Trump administration order aimed at getting local governments to collaborate with federal deportation agents.
The New York Times reports that the publication contained misleading and sensational information that incensed law enforcement officials in so-called sanctuary cities.
President Donald Trump called for the release of weekly reports on how many Immigration and Customs enforcement (ICE) detainers were decline in a January executive order, CNN reported.
Some cities have passed local laws that restrict the collection of citizenship status by local law enforcement, citing concerns that immigrants who have committed relatively minor infractions, such as traffic violations, could be harassed or deported.
"For those that continue to seek improper and illegal entry into this country, be forewarned: This is a new era".
Instead of doing the smart thing, ICE piles up the detainers sky high, all to make the case that NY and other sanctuary cities deserve defunding.
"There have been some data processing errors, and some other issues", Lapan told reporters on Tuesday.
A spokesman for Attorney General Jeff Sessions said the report's suspension would not affect the Justice Department's plans to withhold federal grant money from sanctuary cities.
Rodriguez said the publication of weekly lists "has already sparked important conversations between ICE and law enforcement agencies across the nation, and the revised report will add to this discussion".

If a judge agrees to sign off on the proceedings, the stores will close over the course of the coming months. The Bob's Stores in South Attleboro, Saugus, Franklin, Seekonk and Framingham will close.
One immigration rights advocate said the pullback points out the flaws in the new get-tough policy.
Also, some state and local laws have prohibitions on when immigrants can be transferred to the agents for deportation.
The decision comes as the conflict between supporters and opponents of sanctuary cities and counties is intensifying at the state level.
"We have some bad hombres here and we're going to get them out" promised Trump on the campaign trail.
"In the ultimate city of immigrants. we will work with immigration enforcement to remove serious or violent immigrants from our streets, but we will not be complicit in tearing apart the vast majority of immigrant families that present no threat to public safety whatsoever", said Rosemary Boeglin, spokeswoman for Mayor Bill de Blasio's Office of Immigrant Affairs.
ICE also would release a list of 10 cities each week that it said denied detainers and noted how many were sent to those cities, with no explanation of its methodology for selecting them.

A detainer requests that local law-enforcement agencies notify ICE within 48 hours before a "removable alien" is released from custody and asks that the law-enforcement agency, or LEA, hold the person for up to 48 additional hours in order to allow ICE to assume custody of the individual for "removable purposes".
