Ottawa owns the season series with a ideal 4-0-0 record against Boston this year. Coincidently, it was a Canadian team (Montreal Canadiens) that knocked Boston out of the playoffs in 2014 (Boston's last playoff appearance).
He means unusual in a good way, though.
The Boston Bruins have faltered the last few years, missing the playoffs two straight seasons after a solid run of seven straight postseason appearances.
"It kinda felt like camp out there", Smith said of Tuesday's practice, grinning. "I'm very thankful for my time spent there". "It's definitely a positive sign for us". He has also taken considerable responsibility off Karlsson's shoulders throughout the regular season. Ottawa's top blueliner, Erik Karlsson, missed the last game of the regular season with a foot injury but is expected to be ready for game one, though he may not be at 100%.
"There's not gonna be any problems there", he added.
Ryan Spooner: Welcome Home, Ryan: The Ottawa boy will get his first taste of the National Hockey League playoffs back home, likely serving in a third-line centre role.
"It was severed, so I was missing it", Methot said, of the pinky. Once or twice is a fluke, but he gets beat with more bad angle shots than any goalie I can ever remember seeing.
United CEO calls passenger incident 'truly horrific,' vows to 'fix what's broken'
Dao "belligerent" about being "re-accomodated" which is just fancy speak for being bumped from a flight that he paid to be on. United was trying to make room for four employees of a partner airline on the Sunday evening flight to Louisville, Kentucky.
He has had other major injuries in his career, including a broken jaw, but nothing as painful as this. Boston's total of 107.4 is great, while Ottawa's 96.7 leaves a lot to be desired. "He's probably the least exhausted guy on the team and could become a huge asset for us as the playoffs progress". Under first-year head coach Guy Boucher, the Senators finished second in the Atlantic Division to cement a playoff berth. One was from the Claude Julien era (a 3-1 loss in Ottawa on Thanksgiving night) so that is probably less relevant while three were in quick succession in March and April under B's interim head coach Bruce Cassidy: a 4-2 loss in Ottawa on March 6, a 3-2 loss in Boston on March 21 and a 2-1 shootout loss at the Garden on April 6.
But none of that really matters now. The Bruins had two 30-goal scorers - Brad Marchand (39) and David Pastrnak (34) - while the Senators didn't have any. "I feel good about our team". Ottawa was paced by defenseman Erik Karlsson (17 goals, 54 assists) who had 27 points and left wing Mike Hoffman (26 goals, 35 assists) who put up 26 points on the man-advantage. Four games of pro experience.
"It's very little minor things that got us through those wins". I think that translates well when he's talking to the young guys about the game. It's not a matter of being willing to sacrifice because I think everyone is willing to do that. "We've had some pretty good games against them".
"He's like a fourth forward out there, he doesn't play a normal defenceman and when he makes mistakes he's got so much speed he's able to recover. he's so fast", the insider said. "It's an exciting matchup". The Bruins desperately need a player like that to materialize for them entering a playoff series already down two top-4 d-men before the first postseason puck is even dropped. The 28-year-old is coming off a career season, despite the brutal ending in the press box.
"I'm not getting ahead of myself, but I'm not saying he won't play with [Chara] either", said Cassidy of McAvoy getting paired with Chara after skating with John-Michael Liles in Monday's practice.
The Senators have dealt with a lot this season. Anderson missed some time to be with his wife, who was dealing with throat cancer. Methot's finger was shattered. Let's be honest for a second here, if you think that every player on your team is giving 110 percent in each of those 82 you're sadly mistaken.
It was out of necessity in October, with Kevan Miller and Adam McQuaid injured late in the preseason, that the Bruins paired the teenage Carlo (who spent nearly all of training camp with Liles) up to Chara's right for a two-headed monster that lasted the year.
