Crosby was named the most valuable player to his team in the playoffs on Sunday for the second year in a row after his Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Nashville Predators 2-0 in Game 6 of the final for their second straight Stanley Cup.
"He's now one of the best to ever play the game", Penguins owner Mario Lemieux, a two-time Stanley Cup victor as a player, said of his former team mate.
Penguins captain Sidney Crosby was named the Conn Smythe Award victor, the second straight year he earned the honor given to the most valuable player in the postseason. The Pens would add an empty net and would win Game 6, 2-0.
Hornqvist scored off Nashville goalie Pekka Rinne's left elbow, the former Predator silencing the raucous crowd that had stood for long minutes and flung a few more catfish, too.

It seems the NHL's lack of parity as far as winning championships in recent years (last nine Stanley Cups have been shared among only four different teams) hasn't hurt its television ratings, yet. He followed that up by leading the National Hockey League with 44 goals, and Crosby was at his best in this Cup Final leading all scorers with seven points - one goal and six assists, including three in a 6-0 win in Game 5 that put the Penguins on the verge of their latest title. The Penguins won the first two games at home, and then the Predators won the next two games at home. The Penguins also killed off 32 seconds of a 5-on-3 at 8:47 of the third after Trevor Daley punched Ryan Ellis with Olli Maatta already in the box for tripping. "The last two games", said Penguins general manager Jim Rutherford.
"It stings", said defenseman P.K. Subban, brought over in a trade stunner in the offseason and a foil for Crosby all series. Referee Kevin Pollock blew the whistle when he lost sight of the puck, which was sitting behind Murray with lots of space in the crease for Sissons to tap it into the net.
Crosby also became only the third man to win back-to-back Conn Smythe trophies. Officials huddled, but the goal was not allowed. The Penguins didn't have a power play opportunity.
