'Toy Story 4' bests 'Annabelle Comes Home' and 'Yesterday'

Despite solid debuts from newcomers "Annabelle Comes Home" and "Yesterday", Disney and Pixar's "Toy Story 4" easily dominated North America.

After two weekends in theaters, "Toy Story 4" is already the fourth-highest grossing movie of the year, after "Avengers: Endgame", "Captain Marvel", and "Aladdin".

The animated family film dipped 52 percent to 57.9 million US dollars in its second weekend, boosting its domestic haul to a huge 236.9 million USA dollars.

Lagging far behind the Pixar release is the second placed Annabelle Comes Home, from New Line. But despite the three-day head start, the film only took in about $19.2 million, according to Variety.

However, Pakistan still need a result or two to go their way and also, they need to win their remaining two games. After beating South Africa and then unbeaten New Zealand, it would be easy to get carried away.

Coming in at a distant second was "Annabelle Comes Home", with the latest addition to the "Conjuring" franchise debuting with $20.3 million domestically in its opening weekend, with a domestic total of $31.2 million since its opening on Wednesday.

Universal and Working Title's "Yesterday" followed in third place with 17 million USA dollars from 2,603 theaters in its opening weekend. The film has a reported $26 million budget and was projected for a $10-14 million opening.

In other box office milestones, Lionsgate's "John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum" crossed $300 million worldwide. After looking after Forky (Tony Hale), a homemade toy terrified of his own existence, Woody (Tom Hanks) begins to realize that-even under Bonnie's ownership-he may have outlived his usefulness.

Finally, Marvel Studios' "Avengers: Endgame" added $5.5 million this weekend as some hardcore fans came back to theaters for a re-release with six minutes of special features, including a deleted scene and a sneak peek of "Spider-Man: Far From Home". The Keanu Reeves-led sequel picked up $3 million this weekend, taking its domestic tally to $161 million.
