Huawei's foldable Mate X is passing speed test with flying colors, recording record download and upload speeds, all of this while Samsung's Galaxy Fold is nowhere to be seen.

Foldable smartphones are the next big step in the smartphone industry, and companies like Huawei and Samsung have already showcased the first set of smartphones with an actual foldable display.

"We don't want to launch a product to destroy our reputation", it told CNBC. However, after seeing the response to the Galaxy Fold's failed launch, Huawei said in interviews with The Wall Street Journal and CNBC that it has now chose to take a more "cautious" approach. The $1,980 foldable phone was scheduled to go on sale in the U.S. on April 26, but Samsung hit the brakes right before the phone's launch due to numerous screen problems on review units.

Even though the demand for tablets is declining, Samsung continues to launch new models.

The Mate X is now pegged for a September debut so that extra tests can be carried out to avoid another Galaxy Fold fiasco. We are also waiting for other smartphone manufacturers who teased their own foldable phone to showcase the actual product as well. It is the same SoC that powers the LTE connectivity enabled Huawei Mate 30 and P30 series of flagship phones. "If we are forced to do it by ourselves, we are ready". Due to this, the company has lost the ability to license the full version of Google's Android operating system. "We can do in the next six to nine months", Huawei's spokesman told CNBC.
