Q. Can I change my online ID on my PS3 or PS Vita? True, my user ID was not almost as horrifying as others that you would see online, but it still needed to be fixed.

Sony have revealed today that the PSN Online ID change feature will be launching on Thursday April 11.

Afterwards, each subsequent ID change costs $9.99 CAD.

You can revert your new ID to your old one for free, if you don't like your new one.

If your ID is something you created without thinking (or is just plain lame), you can change it by either logging into your PSN account settings on a web browser or in the Account Management section of the Settings menu on your PlayStation 4.

Loss of user-generated content or parts of the game may not function properly, both online and offline. Games published on or after April 1, 2018 should support this new change, but Sony has not tested all of the games to be sure, according to the blog post.

In short, the company guarantees that games published after April 1, 2018 will take to any changed PSN IDs without a hitch. How do I know that I won't run into these? For example, games like Everybody's Golf, LittleBigPlanet 3, MLB The Show 14, MLB The Show 15, MLB The Show 16, and Worms Battlegrounds all have Critical Issues with the feature. Your save progress might get lost, progress towards trophies might disappear, and it actually affects some pretty big games.

You may lose access to content (including paid-for content) that you may have acquired for your games including content like add-ons and virtual currency.

Sony said should you experience any issues playing not on the list of tested games, revert back to your previous online ID. Reverting back should resolve most issues.
