According to multiple reports, Petty had suffered a cardiac arrest Sunday night at his Malibu home, and was rushed to the hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.
The Los Angeles Police Department had been cited as the source earlier Monday, but the agency issued tweets this afternoon clarifying that it had no information about whether Petty, 66, has passed away.
