Apple Just Launched its First Instagram Account

The account already has over 30K followers and the number is growing by the minute. Instead, Apple is going to share photos shot with an iPhone.

Every year, there are more than a trillion photos taken on various iPhones. It's all about the handsome pictures that people take using the iPhone. So Apple wants to leverage that and showcase the creativity and diversity of iPhone users.

The Apple Instagram account is now posting galleries, sets of images taken by various photographers using iOS equipment.

If Apple sees them and likes them, you're in. It has taken up the @apple handle and is promoting dozens of artists by featuring their Insta-cropped artwork with the #shotoniphone hashtag.

Joining Instagram is standard practice for pretty much everyone these days - brands and individuals alike - but it's a pretty major move for Apple.

While the focus of the account may change in the future, Apple's current strategy of tying together its photography marketing campaign with the real work of photographers on Instagram is an effective, thoughtful use of the platform.

Apple is notoriously shy when it comes to social networks but the world's largest tech company has finally joined the Instagram party. But it's interesting to see Apple creating an "Instagram-native" account.
