Hmmm: Google Created a Proprietary Fast Wireless Charging Solution for Pixel 3

A reader recently purchased a 10W Anker wireless charger to wirelessly fast charge his Pixel 3 with, only to discover that the phone was only getting a maximum of 500mA via the charging app Ampere. We reached out to Google to confirm the issue, and in a statement to Gadgets 360, a spokesperson said, "Pixel Stand charges Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL at up to 10W, and other Qi-compatible phones up to 5W, which means charging a Pixel device on Pixel Stand provides faster charge than most standard Qi chargers".

Arstechnica said that Google was locking out third party Qi chargers from reaching the highest charging speeds on the Pixel 3.

Unfortunately, this is only one of two major multitasking issues in the newly-released Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL: As I and many others have also experienced, these new handsets will often quickly kill apps running in the background.

Virat Kohli fastest to reach 10,000 runs ODI landmark
On 31, March 2001, Indore played host to one of the greatest moments in the sport as Sachin Tendulkar entered uncharted territory. Rayudu took stock along with Kohli to rebuild the innings and counter-attack before being bowled by spinner Ashley Nurse.

If there's one thing that Google's Pixel lineup continues to deliver on easily, it's camera performance. Not everyone is okay with spending that much money on a wireless charger, but that is the price to pay if they want faster charging. Plus, the Pixel 3 packs a Group Selfie feature that allows you to capture 184 percent more of the scene than an iPhone X selfie cam.

We already knew that Google's Assistant UI would only work on the Pixel Stand. Third-party chargers are capped to a pokey 5W charging speed.

Regular 10W wireless chargers can be had for around $15-$25, so Google's $79 Pixel Stand comes at a hefty markup. Another oddity is that the Pixel 3 displays "Charging rapidly" while on a 5W or 10W wireless charger, which is not correct, especially when the wired charger is 18W. That is odd, since the phone charges at 5W on the charger and displays the same thing when connected to its included 18W wired charger.
