Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday resigned from his post after RJD legislative party decided that Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, against whom corruption charges have been slapped by the CBI, would not be resigning from this post.
After the meeting, Kumar, accompanied by senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi drove to Raj Bhavan to stake claim to form the government.
If there is an insulting defeat to Modi after the 2014 elections, it is the election results in Bihar where he lost to the Opposition's Mahagatbandhan of RJD, JD (U) and Congress. The massive uproar among the RJD took place which was demanding that Governor should call them being the largest party.
A clear signal of Nitish's growing bonhomie came when he backed the BJP's presidential candidate, Ram Kumar Kovind. "We will inform the governor also", BJP leader Sushil Modi told ANI. All the five and three Independents are likely to support the new government. Around 2:15 am Tejashwi Yadav along with 100 MLAs had reached the Raj Bhawan and protested.
