It's been a hot minute since ABC announced a new Grey's Anatomy spin-off was in the works, and fans have been waiting as patiently as possible for any updates.
Rosewood's Jaina Lee Ortiz has landed a leading role on the firefighter-themed series, EW has confirmed.
Although her role has yet to be revealed, it is believed she will be the female lead. She captioned the gorgeous pic, "Season 14 I'm coming for you", and added in the punching emoji so we know she meant business. The 10-episode drama, which follows a group of heroic firefighters, hails from Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes' Shondaland. The risky work of these courageous men and woman will be explored, undoubtedly as well as how their high stakes calling impacts their personal lives.
The spin-off was set up by Grey's Anatomy's explosive Season 13 finale.
Judge rules against Charlie Gard's parents ... again
In May, the Court of Appeal upheld the ruling, and judges for the European Court of Human Rights declined to intervene in June. The parents abandoned their bid for the experimental treatment on Monday, saying that time had run out for Charlie.
This much is certain: we will be "meeting" Ortiz at some point during the first half of Grey's 14th season this fall. It is slated for a midseason launch.
Grey's Anatomy has often seemed like a revolving door of characters and Meredith is one of only four to be featured in all 294 episodes.
After her FOX show Rosewood was canceled earlier this year, Ortiz has found herself in high demand, finally settling on the new Grey's Anatomy spin-off as her next project. Annalise Villa on Rosewood, which was cancelled in May after two seasons, and now recurs on USA Network's Shooter.
