Meng Meng and Jiao Qing's arrival in Germany was preceded by lengthy bilateral negotiations, since giant pandas are unique to China and sent overseas as diplomatic envoys. That's according to Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Chinese President Xi Jinping and his German counterpart Chancellor Angela Merkel on Wednesday pledged to take bilateral relations to new and higher levels.
Germany and China are bonding over shared goals of trade and curbing climate change. He also welcomed German businesses' participation in China's Belt and Road project. He's in Germany two days ahead of the G-20 Summit.
"Now we have two very likable diplomats here the two pandas and I think Jiao Qing and Meng Meng will be special ambassadors for our two countries", Merkel said. Deals signed in the two leaders' presence include a Chinese order for Airbus A320 aircraft and expanded cooperation between German carmaker Daimler AG and China's BAIC Motor Corp. The trends towards multi-polarity, economic globalization, application of information technologies in societies and cultural diversity have gained greater momentum.
China is ready to use the summit as a chance to work with all parties to send clear signals about worldwide economic cooperation and global economic governance, and to contribute to promoting world economic growth and perfecting global economic governance, Xi said.
Murray adds voice to concerns over courts

The two countries should reinforce cooperation within the framework of building the Belt and Road and jointly contribute to security, stability and the prosperity of countries along the routes, Xi said.
These developments affected the Brics nations - Brazil, Russia, India, China and SA - and reinforced the need to step up co-ordination "to speak in one voice to steer the world economy in right direction", he said.
Russian Federation has highly praised China's latest shuttle diplomatic efforts with Pakistan and Afghanistan, saying the moves improve the two neighbors' relations and promote the domestic reconciliation in Afghanistan, among all the positive results. I hope this pair of giant pandas who have already arrived in Berlin will serve as envoys of China-Germany friendship.
