Solo woman traveller denied hotel room

"So, I am standing outside a hotel in Hyderabad which didn't let me stay because they realised I was a single lady even after confirming the online booking", she said in her post, which went viral. She says the hotel thought a single lady is safe on the streets rather than allowing her to stay "single" in the hotel. When she questioned the hotel's policy of not allowing single women, all the hotel manager had to say, according to her, was "Sorry Ma'am, this is hotel policy, you talk to Goibibo".

Saraswat took to social media to share her angst of being denied a room and was left stranded with her luggage outside the hotel that she booked online via Goibibo. Yup, massive bag in hand, gross from the journey - just standing outside the hotel. "Amusing huh, how patriarchy works?", she said on her Facebook post. She also posted a screenshot of the hotel's official policy which clearly mentions, "Single lady not allowed". Within no time, the hotel got de-listed from the portal and the booking portal Goibibo has even offered Nupur an apology, and the complimentary stay at another hotel.

Calling out the hotel for its blatant discrimination, she observes, "As a woman I have all the right to travel alone".

"This is not just a hotel, but you will find these kind of instances everywhere in the city". Speaking to ScoopWhoop, she said, "My parents are a little more concerned now but I am undeterred".

Paris 2017: Airbus versus Boeing
His arrival was followed by a flypast by the world's largest passenger plane, the Airbus A380, and France's aerial display team. He said Airbus still aims to deliver 200 A320neo planes despite some problems with one of the two engines available to clients.

So, sol women should now check before reservation whether they are allowed by hotels or not as they may end up outside the hotel and in the nights, there will not be any Goiboibo person to take care of an alternative stay.

Take a look at her Facebook post.

. Let them know that women travel solo now and we won't stay indoors "for the sake of our own safety".

"Here's my question - why do you ask my gender and number of people if not to have a filter to avoid this", Saraswat posted on her Twitter handle. "The policy has also been uploaded on our website". I've been to a lot of cities by myself before and there are nuances in terms of how you navigate a hostel as a single woman - I've had probems in Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Thailand and other places - but it's never been so bad that they would not give me a room. Well I am making a fuss because I am not ready to settle. I am not ready to live in the fear of my safety anymore.
