"You could say she's ugly, but I think she's attractive".

Martha, a 3-year-old Neapolitan Mastiff, took the honors Friday night at the Sonoma-Marin Fair in Petaluma.

And when Martha's owner tried to sell her on Craigslist, Shirley Zindler, the founder of the Dogwood Animal Rescue Project, an animal fostering group, came to the mastiff's aid.

Her and her owner won a trip to NY for a photoshoot and $1,500. According to BBC, she can now see again after several surgeries.

The dogs were judged on audience reaction, first impressions and "unusual attributes".

Meet Martha! She's now a world champion.

The small coastal city of Petaluma has hosted an annual ugly dog contest for more than 50 years, organisers said.

Runners up were Brussells squiffy-faced griffon pug Moe, who came in second place, and Chase, a half-bald Chinese crested-Harke mix who came third. A lumbering canine with deep-set wrinkles and a gas problem, Martha the Mastiff is no beauty queen - but as the newly crowned World's Ugliest Dog, she is still a victor.

The ministry said the IS leaders were gathered to discuss the group's withdrawal from Raqqa, the group's de facto capital. In a statement, the ministry said it was still seeking confirmation following the strike in late May.

"Look at her: she's about 300 pounds of skin on 100 pounds of dog", judge Brian Sobel said of Martha.

The victor of the 29th annual contest held at Sonoma-Marin Fair will be decided Friday evening.

Peanut, a 2-year-old mutt is held by owner Holly Chandler after winning the World's Ugliest Dog Contest at the Sonoma-Marin Fair in Petaluma, Calif.

"The contest has done much to raise awareness for adoption of dogs, and that no matter their physical detractions, these animals are loving companions".

The dog is three years old and weighs a whopping 125 pounds.

The vast majority of the entries are rescue dogs and pooches that, without their sympathetic owners, may never had the shot to take home the coveted title.

"If you have a dog that is more handsome on the inside than the outside, then this "beauty" contest is for you, " read the contest's poster.

This was the 29th year for the contest. Sweepee Rambo, a blind Chinese Crested dog, won the annual World's Ugliest Dog contest.
