Steve Scalise, the Louisiana lawmaker shot last week at a US congressional baseball team practice, is no longer in the intensive care unit of the hospital where he is being treated and remains in fair condition, the hospital said on Friday. Scalise and other congressional Republicans were practicing for their annual charity baseball game against Democrats when a gunman started shooting.

It is a dramatic turnaround for the 51-year-old representative from Louisiana, who was in critical condition and at "imminent risk of death" when first admitted to the hospital, according to Dr. Jack Sava, MedStar's director of trauma.

Doctors say Congressman Scalise is in fair condition and is in the process of healing and rehabilitation.

Bells Ring For Whole Foods and Amazon
But the internet retailer isn't "stupid enough" to change Whole Foods' brand, Mackey told employees at Friday's gathering. Whole Foods has been pressured as a key sales figure has declined. "Very few entities could outbid" Amazon, Short said.

Another Alexandria shooting victim, Matt Mika, is also now in "good condition" and out of the intensive care unit, according to a spokesperson for George Washington University Hospital.

That's the word from MedStar Washington Hospital Center. Four others were injured during the assault, but the gunman, James Hodgkinson, was the only person killed when he was shot by authorities.

Scalise was the most seriously injured in the attack. The bullet pierced his pelvis, fracturing bones and injuring internal organs.
