A dozen House Democrats huddled in the office of New York Rep. Kathleen Rice - an outspoken Pelosi critic - on Thursday afternoon, among them Massachusetts Rep. Seth Moulton and Ohio Rep. Tim Ryan.

"This is certainly something that we have to discuss because it's clear that, I think, across the board in the Democratic Party, we need new leadership", the MA lawmaker said. "She has been a great leader, but like every leader, time immemorial, it's time for people to know when to go", Rice said.

When asked by NBC News' Alex Seitz-Wald about "a change at the top", Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-NJ) said, "We're always reviewing that, believe me". After the election, he conceded, saying, "As darkness has crept across this planet, [Ossoff supporters] have provided a beacon of hope for people here in Georgia and people around the world [.] We showed the world that in places where no one thought it was even possible to fight, we could fight".

Other members were even more blunt in their assessment of the Georgia defeat and Pelosi's culpability.

"I think I'm worth the trouble".

"This is not anything personal between me and Nancy Pelosi", insisted Rice". And it certainly won't happen if rabid progressives keep demonizing and denigrating people with whom they disagree. "Pelosi is the human embodiment of that".

At his watch party Tuesday night, both Democrat Jon Ossoff and his supporters spoke of a movement having "just begun".

South Africa coach Russell Domingo has made an emergency return home after his mother was seriously injured in a auto accident. Tom Curran starred with the ball for England with three wickets while Liam Plunkett got two wickets.

In the Ossoff race, even though the 30-year-old documentary filmmaker and former congressional staffer ended up running a more centrist and not Trump-centric campaign, Republicans were able to zero in on the more than $23 million in donations Ossoff raised, largely from liberal enclaves like California and NY, and make an easy connection to Pelosi.

And progressive activists' willingness to pour millions of dollars' worth of small-dollar online contributions into Ossoff's campaign - donations fueled nearly entirely by a desire to deal Trump a political setback - was what convinced Democrats to take the race seriously.

And while Democrats were mourning in Georgia Tuesday night, they nearly stole a House seat in SC where Archie Parnell came within about 2,800 votes and 3 percentage points of defeating Republican Ralph Norman. Cox says she saw Ossoff talk about the landmark Supreme Court case on abortion, Roe v. Wade, and use the word "choice" at early campaign events, but she says the district's demographics made it a hard line to walk. Most polls had her closely trailing Ossoff up until the final hours before the election.

"I think there was consensus within the room that there are other members within the caucus who feel just like we do", Vela told CNN. Lake, the GOP consultant, predicted Handel would face a primary but she'd easily dispatch her challengers. "This is good news for us", she said.

Any effective leader, she said, would be a target of the opposition.

Although the race was widely viewed as a referendum on President Donald Trump, he was rarely discussed by either candidate, and House Democrats were rattled that the attack ads casting the 77-year-old Pelosi as a San Francisco liberal proved so potent. Last cycle alone, she raised $141.5 million. On Thursday, the National Republican Senatorial Committee sent out a press release attacking Nevada Democratic Rep. Jacky Rosen over her ties to Pelosi.
