The Los Angeles Lakers have offered the Indiana Pacers the No. 27 and No. 28 picks in Thursday's National Basketball Association draft along with either Jordan Clarkson or Julius Randle in return for Paul George, the LA Times reports Tuesday evening. It's entirely possible that the Cavs' season will be decided in the next few weeks, based on which free agents they are able to sign and whether they can or want to make a move for George. If George had made an All-NBA team either this season or next, he would have been eligible for the Designated Veteran Player Exception (the "Kevin Durant rule"), but all signs say that George intends to opt out regardless of his designation status.
Ford's most recent mock draft has Fultz going to the Philadelphia 76ers, who acquired the top pick from the Boston Celtics. The Pacers went 42-40 in large part to his 23.7 points per game, 6.6 rebounds, and 3.3 assists. Following the news that he and his agent had informed the Pacers that he plans to leave the team next summer, in immediately began shopping his services around the league. LeBron James can become a free agent next summer.
The Pacers are in the unenviable position of seeking to trade George with less leverage than the team would otherwise have at the tail end of his contract. If Paul George leaves either now or later the Pacers will be left with nothing, but his memories. "So that's still on my mind ... and something I definitely want to achieve in IN". Trading Clarkson for a current or future draft pick in a separate deal makes a ton of sense given the Lakers' need to keep adding talent and desire to clear future payroll. Had he been voted in, George would have qualified for a super-max contract worth about $210 million over five years, a staggering sum that may have been too much to turn down.
In Brussels, weakened May to outline guarantees for European Union expats in Britain
Red tape for permanent residency would be cut there would be a two-year grace period to avoid "cliff edge" misfortunes. And a senior British official added: "We have been clear on the ECJ that we are taking back control of our own laws ".
A source told ESPN's Dave McMenamin that the Cavs "have already been offered George in a multiteam trade scenario that would cost them [Kevin] Love and involve an unnamed third team".
It's not an easy situation for the Lakers' new front office to navigate: trade assets for George now and give up the means to build a foundation around him, or wait on a trade and risk losing a star who wants to play there to another team.
We are hours away from the start of the 2017 NBA Draft and everything will start to fall into place as names are called on stage and trades become official. Again, what I've been dealing with is stories. "This is my team, my group and this is where I'm at".
