Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI), unhappy with the number of applications received, has again opened doors to receive more options and now it is learnt that they have approached former India Team Director Ravi Shastri.

The BCCI acting president also confirmed that the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), comprising former cricketers, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman, are in constant contact with each other over the appointment of a new coach. I also wish to thank the innumerable followers and fans of Indian cricket for their continued support. Malhotra is now in West Indies - his last assignment as Indian team's administrative manager.

While Kumble has given his side of the story, Kohli is yet to speak about the differences with the former Indian spinner, who stepped down yesterday.

"I was surprised since I have always respected the role boundaries between captain and coach".

The legendary leg-spinner, in a strongly worded letter, admitted that although the BCCI had several times attempted to resolve the misunderstandings between him and the captain, it was apparent that the partnership was untenable and therefore, he had made a decision to move on. "I see the Coach's role akin to "holding a mirror" to drive self-improvement in the team's interest", he fruther wrote.

In light of these "reservations", I believe it is best I hand over this responsibility to whomever the CAC and BCCI deem fit.

The conflict has left 26 civilians, 58 soldiers and police and 202 militants dead according to the government. About 1,000 residents are believed to be still trapped in the crisis-hit city.

"Let me reiterate that it has been an absolutely privilege to have served as Head Coach for the last one year".

Nevertheless, a member of the SC-appointed Committee of Administrators has claimed that it is the CAC's job to pick the ideal candidate and the COA has faith in their abilities. We hope that he will be connected to Indian cricket in any way possible. I will remain a well-wisher of the great cricketing tradition of my country forever. In his Twitter post after stepping down, Kumble has said that the captain had problems with his style and techniques of coaching. "He is a no-nonsense man".

India suffered a humiliating defeat against Pakistan in the ICC Champions Trophy final on Sunday, but Kumble also helped them reclaim the No. 1 Test ranking and maintained an unblemished record in five Test series.

"Indian cricket has once again endorsed that [the] captain is more important than a coach", the newspaper said.

Tom Moody, Richard Pybus, Virender Sehwag and Lalchand Rajput, are among others, are in the race.

Local media has reported that Kohli found Kumble's brand of coaching a bit too assertive and their relationship was beyond fix.
