Moscow has condemned the USA downing of the Syrian government fighter jet after it dropped bombs nears US partner forces.
The American aircraft identified as a F/A-18E Super Hornet took down the aircraft moments later.
The tensions between the two superpowers were strained once again with Sunday's downing of a regime fighter jet by US -led coalition in Syria as Russian Federation said Monday it will treat USA -led coalition planes in Syria, west of the Euphrates, as targets.
The US said it responded without hesitation, but emphasised that it did not seek to fight to the Syrian regime. This was the first time that the USA has itself engaged in air-to-air conflict with Syrian aircraft since it joined the fight against the Islamic State in 2014.
He said government forces began attacking the SDF on Saturday, using warplanes, artillery and tanks in areas that the SDF had liberated from IS.
The pilot is missing, the Syrian statement said. Branding the action as flagrant aggression, the Syrian army said the downing of the Syrian war jet by the U.S. coalition is an evidence on the supportive role of the United States to the terror groups, Xinhua news agency reported.
Russia's Defense Ministry on Monday said it ended the agreement "preventing incidents and providing for safe flights during operations in Syria".

Russia's defence ministry on Monday condemned the United States downing of a Syrian plane in southern Raqqa. With air strikes and special forces from the USA -led coalition, they had been encircling the city since November.
By comparison, the Syrian army said its forces had been fighting IS in a statement released by the government-owned SANA agency.

Earlier, Syrian forces attacked coalition fighters in Ja'Din, wounding a number of fighters and driving them from the town. USA -backed forces have encircled the city of Raqqa and captured several districts from ISIS.
The announcement came after the US shot down a Syrian regime fighter jet on Sunday, which the ministry called a "massive violation of global law", according to ABC News.
Government forces are not involved in the battle for Raqqa, but they are advancing in an area southwest of the city, skirting around SDF fighters to target Deir Ezzor.
