The leaders of the Senate judiciary committee have reached an agreement about the scope of an investigation into political interference at the FBI, with the possibility that the inquiry could explore whether President Donald Trump acted improperly during his interactions with fired FBI Director James Comey.
President Trump's lawyer Jay Sekulow says the president is not under criminal investigation.
An attorney with Trump's private legal team, Jay Sekulow, asserted on four Sunday TV talk shows that the president's Friday tweet was not confirmation that he was under investigation.
While Sekulow did brush off all allegations of investigations being carried out into the President's actions, he did later let slip about an obstruction of justice investigation that may be directed at Trump. Yes, Trump abhors the selective leaks that have poured out of these investigations; he resents the false narrative that has been spun based on mere innuendo and often on inaccurate and sloppy reporting; and he strongly and rightly defends himself and his closest advisors from baseless accusations. King said the "collusion, the cooperation aspect of the investigation is not over".
"We've received no notice of investigation". Why would the president object to a thorough investigation unless he had something to hide?
It's too early to say for sure what legal strategy his lawyers will eventually settle on. Cuomo also challenged Sekulow's claim that the president was above legal reproach for obstruction of justice in his firing of Comey, noting that the question had never before been litigated. "So he's being investigated for taking the action that the attorney general and deputy attorney general recommended him to take by the agency who recommended the termination".
How do you know? "No, he's not being investigated!" But according to the Post, by terminating Comey's job, Trump made himself a target.

The White House will address the issue of the existence of any possible recordings between President Donald Trump and former FBI Director James Comey "probably" this week, press secretary Sean Spicer said Monday. Comey described the memos in a public testimony on 8 June 2017, his first public appearance since Trump fired him on 9 May 2017.
He insisted Trump's tweet was not a real statement, explaining that the message was in response to a Washington Post report suggesting the president was under investigation. Marco Rubio said, "I have no basis on which to make a decision on what his intent is", but added that the tweets "in no way" will impede the work of the investigation.
Over the weekend, Sekulow declared that Trump is not under investigation, after the president condemned the investigation as a "witch hunt" through a series of tweets. Perhaps they harbored some resentment against President Trump himself, and took pleasure in his discomfiture.
Meanwhile, Sekulow said Mueller does have a "sterling reputation in Washington D.C.", and if there are conflicts with people he's named to his staff, that will be addressed.
Also on Sunday, Trump pointed to a new poll that showed, he claimed, that his approval rating had surpassed that of President Barack Obama.
