The criticism of Mueller has intensified in recent days, spreading from Trump surrogates like Gingrich to powerful media personalities like Rush Limbaugh.
Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein told members of a Senate appropriations subcommittee that he is the only person who is able to fire special counsel Robert Mueller and that he has seen no reason to do so.
California Sen. Dianne Feinstein told Rosenstein that she believes it would be "catastrophic" if special counsel Robert Mueller were fired on the orders of President Donald Trump.
"I think he is considering perhaps terminating the special counsel", Ruddy, who leads the conservative news website Newsmax, said on PBS NewsHour. What is Trump so afraid of in the Russian Federation investigation?
The president sacked Comey in early May.
Former House speaker Newt Gingrich said that Mr Trump called him on Monday night because of Mr Gingrich's concerns about the Russian Federation probe.
"I personally think it would be a very significant mistake", Ruddy added.
"Do you have any estimate as to the time this investigation will take or when we might be expected to have some conclusion?"
Mr Sessions made that choice because of his own conversations with Russian officials during the Trump transition - a potential part of the probe.

Rosenstein said "I think the answer is no" but said it would depend on the circumstances.
As the Washington Post reported Wednesday, that special counsel investigation has since expanded to include whether Trump committed obstruction of justice by ousting the former FBI director. Still, he said: "Bob Mueller did a great job as Federal Bureau of Investigation director".
Schiff told CNN's Anderson Cooper if Mueller was ousted, Congress would have to re-establish the Independent Counsel Act that expired following the impeachment of President Bill Clinton.
Ruddy agrees that the move would be a wrong move, but dismissed the investigation Mueller is overseeing.
Mueller also won votes of support Tuesday from the top two Republicans in Congress, House Speaker Paul Ryan of Wisconsin and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, both of whom said they have confidence in him. "You have my assurance that we are faithfully going to follow that regulation, and Director Mueller is going to have the independence he needs". But the president is going to seek the advice of his counsel and inside the government as well as outside.
ROSENSTEIN: No, I have not. "And I'm not going to speculate on what he will or will not do", Sekulow said.
White House officials said late Monday that Ruddy was at the Executive Mansion that day, but said he hadn't met with the president and never spoke with him about the issue.
