Koepka's U.S. Open win continues a streak of first-time major champions. He matched Rory McIlroy's U.S. Open record by finishing at 16 under.
"That's probably one of the coolest things I've ever experienced and to do it on Father's Day, it's pretty neat", Koepka said after his round.
It also marks the seventh consecutive major that has crowned a first time victor.
How did Koepka win the title? It's the first time that has happened since 1998-2000.

Koepka, 27, claimed his first major on Sunday, carding a five-under 67 in the final round to secure a four-stroke victory. He tied for 13th in last year's Open at Oakmont. But each would come up short again, as this turned out to be Brooks Koepka's turn.
Koepka didn't let Harman's mistakes go to waste. I did see that but I don't know if it had come up that (Harman) had bogeyed yet.
Hideki Matsuyama was the highest ranked golfer remaining in the field.
He was tied for the lead to begin the day. Back when he was winning the U.S. Junior Amateur in 2003. Koepka won the tournament with a score of 16-under-par. But back-to-back bogeys on 12 and 13 caused him to slip while Koepka was surging ahead.
Rickie Fowler was two behind Harman on 10 under after a 68 which kept him firmly in contention.
Matsuyama's 66 was the lowest round of the day, while England's Tommy Fleetwood (72) finished a shot back in fourth at 11-under.
The U.S. Open returns to one of its more traditional (read difficult) courses next year when it goes back to Shinnecock Hills in the Hamptons.
Champ and Scottie Scheffler are tied at 1 under.

The American's accountant was the day's second-biggest victor. That was not in the cards or in the bag of anyone but Koepka, who knew from the start what he need do.
Koepka birdied both Nos. Koepka was a cumulative 12-under on the back nine, with his only bogey coming Sunday on No. 10 thanks to a three-putt. Fowler likes his chances of breaking his major duck on Sunday.
That victory five years ago at Royal Latham was his last tour win. But rain-softened Erin Hills was a new U.S. Open course and a much different creature than most of the previous hosts. The top finishing major victor at Erin Hills was Sergio Garcia, who ended up tied for 21st.
"I wasn't thinking anything other than the shot I just had or was about to hit".
Harman was on top at 12 under coming into the day.
Jordan Spieth's little sister was asking more than he could deliver at Erin Hills.
"Well, it wasn't going to be like (Saturday), regardless", he said. She thought for a second and replied, "16 birdies".
So, I think I didn't really understand the beef that it was getting for the low scores. "Then three-putt the next two holes". This year was also the first time that the runner-up finished double digits below par (the top seven on this year's leaderboard all did so). The pair were sharing a house at Erin Hills but neither one will go home happy.
Spieth was well off the lead, but seemed to be feeling much better with his game after shooting 76 in the third round.
What he did looked awfully familiar Sunday at Erin Hills, minus any mess involving the rules.
There was one last ovation as he walked off the 18th green after putting for par in the first Open to be held in Wisconsin.
