Turns out the presidency is good for Trump's business

US #President Donald Trump is indebted to USA and German lenders - along with several others - to the tune of $315.6 million as of mid-2017, according to information released on Friday by the Office of Government Ethics.

Although Trump properties occupied for government business, or those who do business with the government, did well, overall the president had a mixed year, at least in terms of financial results that have been made public.

The graph below shows the the breakdown of the monthly income that Trump has listed on his three financial disclosure forms.

The new filing shows that Trump had at least $310 million in liabilities spread across 16 loans as of May 31, a lot of them mortgages, an amount similar to what he reported in his prior financial disclosure. It's hard to tell, but this is not so different from the report he filed May of previous year, which stated that he was worth $1.5 billion. One is planned for the tourist island of Bali, the other near Jakarta.

"While this filing is voluntary (as no report was due until May 2018), it has been certified by the Office of Government Ethics pursuant to its normal procedures", continued the statement from Spicer.

The documents were made available to the government voluntarily, and cover January 2016 through this April 15, 2017.

President Trump offered a rare glimpse into his finances last night, revealing that he made almost $300 million from golf courses a year ago and $37 million from the Florida country club he has rebranded the "Winter White House".

The first lady drew wide criticism earlier this year when she claimed in a libel lawsuit that a defamatory story in the Daily Mail had derailed her "once-in-a-lifetime opportunity" to launch a broad commercial brand and bring in multimillion-dollar business opportunities.

The filing shows that Mr. Trump resigned from more than 560 positions - many of them a day before his inauguration as president on January 20.

His golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, on the other hand, produced nearly 20 million dollars in revenue, about what it had during the previous reporting period. For example, the estimated revenue of his assets ranges anywhere from $100,000 to $1 million, while some are vaguely labeled as "over $5 million". Mr Trump recently began decamping to that property some weekends.

The Trump International Hotel, housed in the Old Post Office building, has seen a burst of activity since opening its doors last fall. It's been a location for inaugural, foreign, diplomatic, and business interest events.

Trump has ignored calls to release his tax returns, falsely claiming that he can not do so while under audit by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Trump has called at least one of the cases "totally without merit".
