Nor did he deny he has entered the miniscule ranks of sitting presidents who have become the subject of a criminal investigation. Thanks to his firing of Comey and Comey's personal memos that accuse #45 of trying to get him to drop the investigation against ex-national security adviser Michael Flynn, the President is reportedly now under investigation for obstruction of justice.

"They made up a phony collusion with the Russians story, found zero proof, so now they go for obstruction of justice on the phony story".

It was unclear whether the president's comment confirming he was under investigation was based on direct knowledge or media reports that Mueller is examining whether the president obstructed justice by firing Comey.

After Trump fired FBI Director James Comey, Trump said that Comey had told him three times that he was not under investigation.

"If the president thinks he can fire Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein and replace him with someone who will shut down the investigation, he's in for a rude awakening", she said in a statement.

"It would be standard practice for the Special Counsel to examine financial records to look for anything related to Russia", Jamie Gorelick, Kushner's lawyer said in response to the Post' report.

Trump also compared his position to the investigation of Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server in another tweet.

"Despite the phony Witch Hunt going on in America, the economic and jobs numbers are great".

Days after Comey was abruptly ousted, Rosenstein appointed Robert Mueller as special counsel to investigate Russian involvement in the 2016 presidential election and possible collusion with the Trump campaign.

However, the Post's newest dispatch is the first time that it has been specifically reported that the FBI is investigating Kushner's business practices.

Both parties largely backed the appointment of a special counsel last month to oversee the federal Russian Federation probe, an issue that is also being investigated by several congressional committees.

"The FBI leak of information regarding the President is outrageous, inexcusable and illegal", Kasowitz said via a spokesman.

Ditching derogatory rhetoric about the Washington "swamp", Trump rallied in support of his fellow politicians and called on the country to pull together.

Among its other points, the memo also orders that any records be preserved about foreign travel by transition officials or personnel of Trump's presidential campaign.

"Why is that Hillary Clintons family and Dems dealings with Russian Federation are not looked at, but my non-dealings are?" he asked.

Several top intelligence officials have agreed to be interviewed by Mueller's team, according to reports in both The Washington Post and New York Times. Those officials are: Dan Coats, the director of national intelligence; Michael Rogers, the head of the National Security Agency; and Richard Ledgett, the former NSA deputy director.
