The gender of the twins is unknown and no further details have been revealed, and Beyonce and Jay Z have not confirmed the birth.

Beyonce and Jay Z welcomed twins earlier this week, according to multiple sources - but the couple are yet to confirm this.

Beyoncé has given birth to twins in Los Angeles, according to U.S. media reports.

Along with a photograph of herself cradling her baby bump, she wrote: "We would like to share our love and happiness".

Bey's mama also told The Insider, "It's very different from the last time, so she's feeling a little heavy, but there's two babies".

Let's take a look at some of the Twitter reactions here.

Beyonce married rapper Jay Z, real name Shawn Carter, in 2008 after a five-year relationship following several collaborations, including on her 2003 hit Crazy In Love.

In May, the singer celebrated with a star-studded baby shower.

Beyoncé famously announced that pregnancy at 2011's MTV Video Music Awards.

She still made a number of red carpet appearances while carrying the twins and documented her pregnancy via social media - to the joy of her adoring fans.

One lyric warns an unfaithful man of a "final warning" that he's "gonna lose your wife" if his behavior doesn't change.

The twins join Beyoncé and Jay Z's firstborn, Blue Ivy, now 5 years old.
