It was a memo written by Rosenstein that was originally used by the White House as justification for Comey's firing.

Mr Mueller was appointed as special counsel to investigate Moscow's involvement in the presidential election a year ago and possible collusion by Trump campaign associates with the Russians, but there has been no indication that Mr Mueller told the president to fire Mr Comey. Peter Carr, a spokesman for Mueller told AFP he now has "13 attorneys on board, with several more in the pipeline". He also has millions of followers on his official Facebook pages.

Not all of Trump's social media followers are supporters. But Comey did lay out facts that a prosecutor could use to try to prove obstruction.

Mueller was named by Rosenstein on May 17 to lead the Russian Federation investigation as a special counsel, a position created to conduct investigations when a normal Justice Department probe would present a conflict of interest.
