Apple WWDC 2017: 7 Biggest Announcements

If you are planning to upgrade your iMac or are new to Apple's ecosystem this new desktop won't disappoint. In addition to simply having more computing power, the Xeon and Radeon Pro Vega graphics processors are created to work optimally with professional apps like AutoCAD, Dassault CATIA, and Maya. The overall design of the iMac has aged surprisingly well and the desktop is still one of the best all-in-one devices on the market, though Microsoft's Surface Studio and its "Zero Gravity" hinge certainly gives its main competitor a more futuristic look.

Apple also said during the WWDC keynote that all of its laptops now have solid state drives that feature a 50% speed improvement. According to Apple, graphics performance on the new iMacs is up to three times greater than the outgoing models. The 9.7-inch is too small, the 12.9-inch is too big, but the new 10.5-inch is just right, or so logic dictates. The regular iMac only supports a single 5K or two 4K displays.

Apple has also made it more efficient, with the site saying the 10.5ins iPad Pro will lower the screen's frame rate when looking at a still image to conserve battery. On the graphics side of the spectrum, this computer rocks AMD's new Vega graphics with up to 16GB of VRAM. "But if the baseline screens aren't good enough, you can now upgrade to a 4K Retina display on the 21.5" iMac and a 5K Retina display on the 27" iMac. Watch a video, maybe. Apple is one of the main adopters of the Thunderbolt standard as opposed to standard USB-C, though it should be noted that Thunderbolt 3 uses the USB-C connector. The new 10.5-inch iPad Pro with 256GB of storage costs $1259 while the 12.9-inch model is $1459.

The refreshed 13-inch MacBook Pro with Touch ID is listed at Rs 1,54,900 (base model), while the new 15-inch MacBook Pro with Touch ID base model starts at Rs 2,05,900, which is the same price at which it was launched previous year.

The two new iPad Pro devices feature differing resolutions, but it is notable that the two tablets have exactly the same pixel density of 264ppi.

Apple's new MacBook laptop now comes with the latest Kaby Lake processors, a faster SSD, and a lit new keyboard.

IFixit further noted that the Touch Bar of the new MacBook Pro still remains "difficult to replace", and with all of the core components - processor, RAM, storage - soldered to the logic board, and the battery glued solidly into the case, it's a very unfriendly machine to fix.

The MacBook Pro (2017) 13-inch model weighs 1.37kg and measures 14.9 x 304.1 x 212.4mm, while the MacBook Pro (2017) 15-inch model weighs 1.83kg and measures 15.5 x 349.3 x 240.7mm.
