Prime Minister Theresa May has gone to Queen Elizabeth II to get permission to form a government with the help of the smaller Democratic Unionist Party. Even if the Conservatives won all the remaining seats, the party would fall short of the 326 needed for an outright majority. But, instead, support for her party declined dramatically, leaving her government far more precarious than before.
Mrs May has faced calls to quit from within her own party, with Anna Soubry saying she should consider her position after a "disastrous" campaign.
May called the early election in hopes of getting an increased majority that could have strengthened her hand in Britain's exit talks with the European Union, with negotiations beginning in 10 days, but she saw her majority evaporate completely. He is also lobbying against "undue restrictions on free movement of people, which we know will damage the capacity of the creative industries to deliver". The hung parliament has presented both May and Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn with a claim to govern, creating yet more uncertainty ahead of the UK's negotiations to exit the European Union.
Early polls showed May's party with a comfortable lead, but the gap closed during the seven-week campaign. Theresa May sympathised with she Tory MPs who lost their seats after her General Election gamble backfired leaving the United Kingdom with a hung parliament.

Coalition governments are common in countries with a proportional-representation system, where parties get seats according to their share of the national vote. They had some strong words to say against Theresa May, earlier in the day.
The Conservative Party is clearly looking for a working arrangement with the DUP for now until the party's new leadership takes over later afterwards.
Jack Straw, a former Labour foreign minister, said the result means there will now be a lot of pressure in parliament for a soft Brexit. DUP leader Arlene Foster confirmed plans to hold talks with the Conservatives to discuss a way "to bring stability to our nation at this time of great challenge". "We have to wait and see how things shake out".
"I don't worry about that, partly because I think that the Democratic Party has stayed pretty grounded in fact and reality", Obama told Axelrod at the time. No party won a majority in elections in 1909, 1929, 1974 and 2010.
