We knew Melissa McCarthy would be bringing back Sean Spicer on last night's new episode of Saturday Night Live.
Aidy Bryant takes to the White House Press Room podium as Sarah Huckabee Sanders, with an accent straight out of the Bible belt, filling in for the on-leave Spicer. After being asked about the recent rumors that Sanders might replace Spicer full-time, he drives his podium all the way to Trump Tower in NY, where he hopes to convince his "best friend" not to fire him.
"Have you ever told me to say thing that aren't true?"
But McCarthy's Spicer returned to the lectern, armed with a fire extinguisher to put "his trousers out" for lying.
And then, Melissa McCarthy reprised her role as "Spicey" on Saturday Night Live.
Not only did the sketch involve a White House press briefing and Spicer's existential road journey, it ended up being the one where Alec Baldwin's President Trump and McCarthy's beleaguered press secretary finally meet.
Spicer then takes his motorized podium a couple hundred miles north, eventually finding the president at his golf course estate in Bedminster, N.J. Trump can't remember Holt's name, a chipper Paul Ryan comes in to serve Trump ice cream, and Baldwin's Trump says, "Do you think I care about optics?"
"I can't, I have a wife".
Utah Boy Scouts of America reacts to announcement by LDS Church
The Mormon church announced today it is no longer participating in two Boy Scouts of America programs for older teenagers. The Mormon Church claims to want a more simplified program that is tailored to Mormon teenagers.
"Trump is innocent", McCarthy's Spicer said.
"I'm famous, it's OK", Baldwin said, in a reference to the leaked 2005 video where Trump said he could get away with grabbing women because he's famous.
Baldwin's Trump also appeared in the show's cold open, a parody of the real Trump's interview with NBC News' Lester Holt (Michael Che). "Because he TOLD us so!" "And then he hired lawyers to agree with him". You're really gonna ask me that?
"Nothing's going to stop me because I have the Republicans in the palm of my hand".
The question first made McCarthy's Spicer go ballistic, ripping a column down and throwing it at the press corps, but then it and other questions about whether Trump was lying to the faux press secretary made Spicer rethink everything.
She reaches Trump Tower only to be told that the president does not come to Trump Tower anymore.
"Only since you started working here", Trump explained.
