Four-year old dies of self-inflicted gunshot in Orange County

Investigators identified a person of interest Tuesday after the bodies of Martha Cardin, 75, and Steven Cardin, 55, were found Monday in a home, the Orange County Sheriff's Office said.

According to a release, the weapon involved was not a service weapon.

This incident occurred off Mine Run Road in Orange County.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office is searching for a person of interest in the death of two people found Monday afternoon.

When crews arrived at the home, they tried to perform life-saving measures but were ultimately unsuccessful, and the boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

This incident occurred at a child care provider that is also the residence of a Stafford County Sheriff's Office recruit, according to officials.

An autopsy is being performed and investigators with the Orange Sheriff's Office are investigating the incident.

The Sheriff's Office said someone in the neighborhood knows the two, and suggested deputies search for the Dodge Journey Crossroad. The statement says no other information will be released until the investigation is completed.
