Russian Federation investigation issues subpoena for Flynn

Earlier this week CNN reported that grand jury subpoenas were issued to several of Flynn's business associates.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is looking into allegations Russian Federation meddled in the 2016 presidential election to benefit Trump, as well as possible links to the Trump campaign.

On Tuesday, Trump fired FBI Director James Comey in a move that drew criticism from Democrats who accused the U.S. president of attempting to abort the investigation into Russian involvement in the elections.

Among the payments they cited were more than $33,000 from RT, a Russian state-sponsored television network that USA intelligence officials have branded as a propaganda front for Russia's government.

Investigators have been looking into possible wrongdoing in how Flynn handled disclosures about payments from clients tied to foreign governments including Russian Federation and Turkey, US officials briefed on the matter have told CNN.

That Wednesday meeting was already being seen as a major diplomatic coup for the Kremlin, a red carpet welcome just months after being hit with U.S. sanctions for meddling in the 2016 presidential election.

Flynn's attorney, Robert Kelner, did not respond immediately to a request for comment.

Boston's Isaiah Thomas had a chance to win the game with less than two seconds left, but his contested three missed the mark. However, Wall's heroics would give the Wizards the win and send the series to a do or die game seven.

The chairman and vice chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee on Wednesday issued a subpoena to President Donald Trump's former national security adviser Michael Flynn as part of their investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.

During the campaign, Trump had expressed admiration for Russia's Vladimir Putin. While Trump said Wednesday that Comey was dismissed simply because he "wasn't doing a good job", the more elaborate official explanation has been what Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein wrote in a memo to Trump about Comey: that the former FBI boss badly mishandled the investigation of Hillary Clinton's private email server. Yates also cited the possibility that Flynn could have broken federal law by operating as a paid foreign agent for the Turkish client without USA government permission.

Flynn, a retired Army lieutenant general, emerged in 2015 as a strident critic of the Obama administration, which fired him.

The Flynn subpoena also comes one day before the committee is scheduled to hold an annual hearing with the heads of the various government intelligence agencies to discuss worldwide threats.

Past year he built a close relationship with then-candidate Trump and became a frequent Trump campaign surrogate before assuming a brief tenure as national security advisor.

It was the first subpoena announced by the committee in its investigation.

In fact, she told lawmakers on Capitol Hill Monday she didn't know about the travel ban when she first told McGahn about Flynn, but rather learned about it from media reports. The Justice Department denied that Comey made such a request.
